Sebastiaan Jansen wist al jong wat hij wilde. Op zijn twaalfde ging hij naar het schippersinternaat in Rotterdam, waar hij de matrozenopleiding volgde. Na een aantal jaren varen, rondde hij de studie tot maritiem officier af en werkte onder meer bij Amasus. Toch koos hij uiteindelijk voor de binnenvaart. \u201cIk wilde niet steeds drie maanden van huis zijn. De binnenvaart past beter bij mijn leven.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>

Since 2022, Sebastiaan has been sailing the Dallas<\/em>Sinds 2022 vaart Sebastiaan op de Dallas, een schip van Unibarge. Toen hij aan boord kwam, zat Bridgescout\u00ae er al op. En sindsdien is het systeem voor hem niet meer weg te denken. \u201cJe vaart op de Duitse kanalen soms echt met een paar centimeter speling. Dan is Bridgescout\u00ae leidend. Hij kijkt met je mee \u2013 letterlijk. Als ik moet zakken, zie ik dat meteen. Natuurlijk steek ik nog weleens mijn hoofd uit het raam, maar dit systeem geeft gewoon veel meer zekerheid.\u201d<\/p>

Een hulpmiddel, geen overname<\/strong><\/h4>

Sebastiaan is de eerste om te zeggen dat hij weet wat hij doet. \u201cIk heb nog nooit een aanvaring gehad, en dat wil ik graag zo houden. Ik vaar op ervaring, kennis en gevoel. Maar een extra paar ogen is nooit verkeerd.\u201d Het mooie aan Bridgescout\u00ae is dat je er niets aan hoeft te doen. \u201cJe kijkt gewoon naar het scherm, en dat zegt genoeg. Rood licht en een geluidssignaal? Dan weet je: eventjes opletten. Meer hoeft het niet te zijn.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Installatie en certificering: \u201cBinnen een half uur geregeld\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>

Direct in zijn eerste week aan boord kreeg Sebastiaan te maken met de jaarlijkse keuring van het systeem. \u201cNieuwe sensor erin, alles nalopen, handtekening zetten en klaar. Een half uurtje werk. Maar het is wel belangrijk: voor de autoriteit \u00e9n voor jezelf.\u201d<\/p>

Inmiddels heeft hij de keuring twee keer meegemaakt. \u201cJe merkt: als iemand weet waar hij mee bezig is, kan het vlot gaan. En dan kun je weer met vertrouwen onder die bruggen door.\u201d<\/p>

Veiligheid als gedeelde verantwoordelijkheid<\/strong><\/h4>

Voor Sebastiaan is Bridgescout\u00ae niet zomaar een stukje techniek, maar een logische stap in een sector die steeds professioneler wordt. \u201cAls je er niet mee vaart, loop je eigenlijk achter. We hebben allemaal een verantwoordelijkheid. Er zijn recent nog ongelukken gebeurd waarbij een stuurhut werd afgevaren. Ik denk dan: daar zat dus g\u00e9\u00e9n Bridgescout op. Menselijk falen kun je niet helemaal uitsluiten, maar je kunt het wel opvangen. Bridgescout\u00ae zorgt ervoor dat die veiligheid wordt gewaarborgd. \u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
