En hoewel hij de routes inmiddels op zijn duimpje kent, blijft het werk uitdagend. Vooral bij bruggen waar je weinig marge hebt. Sinds enige tijd vaart Thomas met Bridgescout\u00ae aan boord van de <em>Rhenus Dortmund<\/em>\u201cOp sommige stukken heb je letterlijk maar een paar centimeter speling,\u201d zegt hij. \u201cDan wil je zeker weten dat je op tijd handelt.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><p>Wat hem vooral aanspreekt? De eenvoud. \u201cHet systeem doet wat het moet doen. Het is overzichtelijk, duidelijk en reageert meteen. Zeker bij slechte zichtbaarheid of afleiding aan boord is dat gewoon fijn.Het helpt ons om op tijd te reageren en fouten te voorkomen,\u201d vertelt Thomas. \u201cZeker op donkere stukken of bij wisselende waterstanden is het prettig om een extra paar ogen te hebben dat altijd oplet.\u201d<\/p><p>Bridgescout\u00ae toont duidelijk hoe hoog de stuurhut is in verhouding tot de brug, met visuele en gesproken waarschuwingen. \u201cDat geeft vertrouwen. Je hoeft niet te gokken of twijfelen: je ziet het gewoon voor je.\u201d<\/p><p><strong>Gebruiksvriendelijk aan boord<\/strong><br \/>Wat Thomas waardeert aan het systeem, is het gemak. \u201cHet werkt intu\u00eftief,\u201d zegt hij. \u201cNieuwe bemanningsleden snappen het binnen een paar minuten. Rood is opletten, groen is veilig. Simpeler wordt het niet.\u201d<br \/>Het paneel geeft ook praktische informatie weer, zoals de snelheid, tijd tot de brug, en de naam van de brug.<\/p><p>De binnenvaart wordt steeds drukker, merkt Thomas. Met Bridgescout\u00ae aan boord voelt hij zich beter voorbereid. \u201cJe hebt net dat beetje extra controle. Zeker op stukken waar je anders echt op je inschattingsvermogen moet varen.
